Description
Develop your landscape drawing and painting confidence with Tom Thomson as inspiration!
We will cover sound practices as they apply to both plein-air and studio endeavours. What to paint on location: should I just sketch, or use paint media? How might I best use reference photos? Who hasn't returned to the studio from a sketching expedition and thought, “What now?”. Tom Thomson directly influences our lives with his iconic Canadian paintings. His plein-air oil sketches are a marvel and sit on an equal footing to his studio work. There could be no The Jack Pine nor The West Wind without Tom’s dedication to plein-air: that first rush of inspiration and feeling for his surroundings bearing the richest artistic fruit. We'll explore the romance of Canadian landscape motifs with Tom Thomson as our catalyst!
Weather permitting, this 2-day workshop will include optional “plein-air” sketching and painting expeditions at nearby scenic locations. with a return to the studio to create spectacular finished works.
Oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastel artists are all welcome!
Materials not included.
Bien que l’atelier se déroule en anglais, un suivi individuel en français est possible.
