Description
This course is designed for young photographers who are interested in the world of film. All students should have a working 35 mm film camera. We will discuss how to use film cameras in manual exposure mode and complete daily exercises taking photos or processing film in the darkroom. Beyond technical camera choices photographers make, we will concentrate on subject, light, visual composition and how one’s personal choices impact on the visual quality of each photograph. A candid discussion on the archival nature of film versus digital photography details the renewed interest in film today.
Students will process their own film and then print 8x10”s for the final week’s
presentation. All aspects of printing will be discussed. Students will also be introduced to scanning film and making a digital photograph for social media use.
