Description

This course explores a sampling of textiles, fibre contents, and traditional techniques. Each week is dedicated to a specific medium. Through that medium, students are introduced to traditional styles. A number of sessions are dedicated to mixing techniques and breaking traditional rules through exploration, error, and success. Notable artists and historical movements are studied and discussed from the standpoint of art vs. craft. Students are encouraged to experiment and develop their artistic voice. These techniques are easy to translate into many art practices. Technology use is encouraged. Supply list is mandatory.
